The Baby is fragile yet powerful. His tale of urban folklore connects his Romanian mother and his Nigerian father with colorful Americans in Pittsburgh, PA. Zadravec's prize-winning play about people from besieged corners of the globe, Honey Brown Eyes, brought her to national prominence. The Electric Baby reflects time she spent in Pittsburgh. Daniella Topol directs.

Red Star Red Army Chorus and Dance Ensemble
The incomparable Red Star Red Army Chorus and Dance Ensemble lives up to its lofty billing in a brilliant performance. This program, created for American audiences, takes you on a journey of Russian music, traditional folk songs: Meadolands, Moscow Nights and Dark Eyes; interspersed with dances of amazing virtuosity.

Three Rivers Quilt Show
The Three Rivers Quilters Guild presents its 2012 QUILT SHOW featuring over 120 quilts on exhibit, quilting demos, vendors, quilt-related "Granny's Attic" and a snack cafe. This year's show theme is IRISH CHAIN, a tribute to a simple, but versatile, quilt block.

A Cinderella Story
Steven Stucky's Son et Lumière (Sound and Light) entertains with orchestral colors colors and shimmering textures. Then, pianist Stephen Hough dazzles in Saint-Saëns' exotic "Egyptian"  Concerto. To close, Principal Guest Conductor Leonard Slatkin presents his own signature orchestral suite from Sergei Prokofiev's romantic ballet Cinderella.

Legends and Visionaries
Haydn and Monteverdi were legends in their own time and visionaries of music yet to be. Eric Whitacre and John Tavener are contemporary composers using new techniques to stretch the art of choral music with their visions and well on the way to becoming legends. Guest Music Director Larry Allen will lead Haydn's Missa Brevis Sancti Johannes de Deo, Monteverdi's Beatis Vir, Whitacre's Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine, and Tavener's Village Wedding.

Distinctively Dutch: Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble
This nontraditional 'salon' experience includes food & drink, and performances of -- Jacob TV: Body of Your Dreams (boombox and Rob Frankenberry, piano); Louis Andriessen: The Garden of Eros (Roger Zahab, violin and Rob Frankenberry, piano); and PNME flutist Lindsey Goodman recreates her legendary 2009 performance of Jacob TV's Lipstick – an intoxicating mashup of audio from daytime talk shows and Billie Holiday.

CMU School of Music Centennial Concert
The Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and Choirs will be joined by guest artists including, but not limited to, Met Opera tenor Jeffrey Behrens and baritone Liam Bonner; Chicago Symphony Principal Horn Dale Clevenger; actor, singer, and star of Jersey Boys, Graham Fenton; Seattle Symphony Assoc. Concertmaster Emma Hancock McGrath; NY Philharmonic Principal Horn Philip Myers; PSO Principal Horn William Caballero; actress and star of Ragtime and Jekyll & Hyde, Christiane Noll; and more.  Broadcast and streamed live on QED 89.3 and online.  This concert will also be performed in New York, at Carnegie Hall, April 2nd.
