When John, a “witch boy,” falls in love with the beautiful, lusty mortal, Barbara Allen, he makes a pact with a conjurer to gain human status. His wish is granted on the condition that Barbara remains faithful to him for one year as characters from both “worlds” conspire to thwart their happiness.
