Managing Marcellus

It is a billion dollar industry, producing billions of cubic feet of natural gas in Pennsylvania every day. A subject of much discussion, debate and deliberation -- concerned citizens, land owners, environmentalists, elected officials and the industry grapple with managing Marcellus Shale.

Through a special grant from the Colcom Foundation, WQED is putting the spotlight on Marcellus Shale drilling in Western Pennsylvania -- producing a series of programs that will explore community and environmental concerns along with economic growth and job opportunities. We’ll reflect on the history of the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania and how it compares to shale drilling in other parts of the country and the impact on Pennsylvania now -- and in the future.
