The Paris of Appalachia - The newly released book The Paris of Appalachia - Pittsburgh in the Twenty-first Century is getting lots of local attention. OnQ's Michael Bartley sits down with author Brian O'Neill who is also a popular columnist with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Hat Tricks 4 Humanity - What happens to all those hats when there's a hat trick at Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games? Mike Behme of Boy Scout Troop 830 in Clinton, PA found out they were being thrown in the trash, so he created Hat Tricks 4 Humanity as his Eagle Scout community service project. The hats now go to local and international charities. Sidney Crosby congratulated Mike and gave OnQ a surprise interview for this story.

Through the Roof - OnQ gives viewers the opportunity to see a plant that blooms only once in its life cycle at Phipps Conservatory. The agave americana, a succulent native to Mexico is also known as a century plant and it is about to bloom. Its spectacular single stalk is literally growing through the roof -an average 6 to 12 inches a day and then will die once it blossoms.

Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art - A photographer from the North Side who's lived with HIV for 23 years and a painter from North Oakland who has tested negative - also for 23 years, are just two of many artists donating work to a cause that helps countless people. OnQ contributor Dave Crawley tells the story of a group called Persad and its art auction that was held in May 2010 at the Carnegie Museum of Art.

Wildlife Leadership Academy - This innovative program takes teenagers into the woods for a week-long workshop dealing with nature's delicate balance. OnQ contributor Doug Oster reports on a Wildlife Leadership Academy summer session that taught the students about managing the deer herd in Pennsylvania.

Sprague Farm & Brew Works - Voted best brewery at the 2009 Erie Micro Brew Festival, the Sprague Farm & Brew Works is a bit of a secret outside the Venango, Pennsylvania area. But you wouldn't know it by how busy they are. OnQ takes viewers on a tour and introduces the owners, Brian and Minnie.

Beyond Boundaries: In the Workplace - A successful, functional work environment is not only essential for people with disabilities, but for their co-workers and the company as well. The topic is discussed with guests Melissa Ferraro, Manager of Staffing, Compliance and Accessibility for Highmark and Michele D. Halleran, a Highmark employee who is deaf.

Three Rivers Center for Independent Living - This non-profit, community based human services organization assists people with disabilities so they can lead self-directed, productive lives within the community. OnQ's Chris Moore visits the Three Rivers Center for Independent Living, and reports on its success stories.

Minspeak - It's just one of many fascinating developments helping physically and mentally challenged people to lead fuller lives. OnQ focuses on a language developed by a Pittsburgh-area man. Minspeak allows people to independently communicate a large vocabulary more quickly and efficiently than in similar devices.

Beyond Boundaries: Independent Living and Technology - Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., is with the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology and Dee Delaney is the Executive Director of the FISA Foundation. They will join in a discussion about independent living and technology that improve the quality of life for people living with a disability.

Children's Home of Pittsburgh Dance Class - Led by dance instructor Andrew Blight of the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, these dance classes benefit kids from Child's Way, a daycare program for children with special medical needs. Classes consist of stretching, jumping, leaping and can also help improve comprehension and memory skills.

Beyond Boundaries: Culture & Leisure Discussion - Guests Joan Stein, President and CEO of Accessibility Development Associates and Veronica Corpuz from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust discuss the quality of life for people living with disabilities and the importance of access to arts and culture.

St. Anthony School Programs for providing David with life skills.

James Fair: A Welcome Home - In November 2003, SPC James Fair was critically wounded by a bomb while serving in Iraq. His injuries included the loss of both hands and the loss of sight in both eyes. Now, with the help of Homes for Our Troops, Duquesne Light, the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show and many others, Fair is living independently in a Ross Township home built to accommodate his special needs. OnQ contributor Harold Hayes reports.

Pittsburgh Police Motorcycle Unit: 100 Years of Service - 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Motorcycle Unit. They are the only police force in the United States to have ridden Harley Davidson Motorcycles for 100 consecutive years. There have been generations of families who have served as Pittsburgh motorcycle officers, and they ride year-round no matter the weather. OnQ's Chris Moore reports.

Leo J. Beachy - A Legacy Nearly Lost - In the early 1900s, photographer Leo Beachy took captivating images of life in Western Maryland, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, but most of his glass plate negatives were destroyed in 1927. In recent years, Beachy's niece, Maxine Broadwater, recovered 2,700 negatives and is working to bring her uncle's remarkable legacy back to life.
